A Normal Week

I'm going to share our schedule, but I have no idea if this will work for us. I can see at least one problem at the beginning -- starting at 8 am. Over the summer we usually finished cleaning up breakfast around 9, so it'll be a bit of a change for us, but I prefer the earlier start so we're going to try to make it work. I also anticipate First Son's arguments against getting dressed before school. (He wears his pajamas as long as possible every day.) I am hoping the excitement of school will ease the beginning of this new habit.
2009-2010 Normal Day

As you can see, we're planning around some outside activities. Kansas Dad will handle classes on Thursday mornings and then take the kids to our little library for the preschool program they provide. They very kindly encouraged First Son to return because they knew we were homeschooling and wanted to bring First Daughter. If I ever manage to quit working entirely, we may change that morning's routine.

I've also decided to participate in some outside activities with our larger homeschool group this year. We'll see how those work out as well. In particular, I think these will suit our family. I've planned a loose afternoon schedule that will allow us to hit the main points (math and reading mainly) even if we don't have school in the morning. I'm also hoping our early start will enable us to have our opening even if we're headed out for the morning.

I have visions of afternoons with both girls sleeping and First Son entertaining himself during Quiet Time so I can focus on other things: baking, exercising, my own reading, the possibilities are endless...Second Daughter is reaching the age when a long sustainable afternoon nap should surface soon. I hope and pray.

I'm planning a post on each of our subjects. I don't pretend to have any great knowledge to share, I just find my own thoughts reach a greater level of clarity when I've typed them out for the blog. Perhaps, too, I can look back in a few years and laugh at my naivete. At least, I hope I'll be laughing.
