One of my aunts scored an old sewing machine for me at a garage sale recently (after my mom put out the word I was interested) and my parents brought it with them. Mom helped me repair one of First Daughter's blankets last night. I sewed all the way around it! The cabinet is a little shaky, but I'm pleased. It can do all sorts of things I won't be trying anytime soon, given that two weeks before a third baby is due isn't quite the best time to pick up a new hobby. I'm excited to be a sewing machine owner, though. Because I wish I had paid attention when my mom tried to teach me to sew when I was younger, I'm going to make sure my kids know the basics (you know...once I figure them out myself). It fits right in with the Charlotte Mason philosophy, too.
