There aren't any directions with the kit, but I don't see how you could just push the pieces in. I used a screwdriver to make holes where the kids wanted to place everything and then they took turns pushing them in.
The hat had to wait until Kansas Dad cut off more of the stem, but the kids didn't mind. They love the pumpkin. He sits on our counter and watches them eat every meal. Hopefully he'll last until Halloween.
